520 lb-ft @ 1,800 RPM
Reputation:
Reliable, powerful, & durable. More 7.3L Power Strokes are on the road today than GM and Dodge diesel trucks combined. Considered one of the best light/medium duty diesel engines ever produced. Brute strength, builds torque at low RPM. Lots of aftermarket engine modifications available. More turbo lag than Ford & Chevrolet, and typically slower in stock form. Ridiculed for having aluminum heads on a diesel & smaller connecting rods than the Power Stroke & Cummins. Quick turbo spooling and good fuel economy are its well known traits.
Applications:
1994.5 - 2003 Ford F250, F350, F450, F550, F650 trucks. 1998 - 2007.5 Dodge Ram 2500 & 3500 trucks. 2001 - 2004 Chevrolet & GMC HD 2500 & 3500 trucks.

*Peak horsepower & torque refers to the highest advertised power output during the engine's production unless otherwise noted.
**Cummins horsepower & torque output includes peak advertised as well as the 2003 model year so that a fair comparison can be made to the Duramax LB7 & the 7.3L Power Stroke, both of which ended production several years before the 5.9L Cummins.
