Parent Conference Rescheduled
Powell, TN - April 8, 2011 - A much anticipated event in Powell has been rescheduled due to scheduling conflicts at
Powell High School.
The Lace Up Parent Conference, hosted by OneLife Church and sponsored by Cars Etc., was set to be held at Powell
High School on April 15 and 16. However, a last minute scheduling conflict forced the conference to be rescheduled.
"We found out yesterday that when the high school approved us to use the facility for the Lace Up Conference several
months ago, they inadvertently overlooked a previously scheduled event in the auditorium," said OneLife's pastor Rodney
Arnold. "They did not catch this oversight until yesterday morning and while they graciously offered other parts of the
school for us to use, none of them would accommodate this event. We spent the entire day looking for alternate venues
but none were available or feasible at the last minute."
For the church, the rescheduling of the event may have a potential silver lining.
"We are extremely disappointed to have to reschedule the event but at this point, that is our only feasible option. We are
now working with the school and our guest speakers to find another, viable date. It appears like this will be in August, right
before school starts back. We hope to re-package it as a back-to-school event that pairs the conference with more kidcentered
events. We believe this may be a silver lining and allow us to reach a broader base," Arnold said.
When the conference is held this fall, parenting experts Jeff and Debby McElroy will still lead the main sessions while
OneLife Church will provide what Arnold calls "the fun" with music, entertainment, and production.
Jeff and Debby McElroy from Forever Families are considered two of the nation's leading experts in families and
parenting. Jeff and Debby are the founders of Forever Families and have been touring the country for over 25 years
leading and teaching people in the areas of marriage, families, and parenting. Their conferences have been described as
a combination of the antics of "Tool Time," the hard hitting challenges of Vince Lombardi and the poignancy of a Hallmark
commercial.
More information will be available at www.knoxparents.com as plans are finalized for the fall event.
